Formed and listed on the JSE in 2007, the KayDav Group is the result of a merger between two of South Africa’s largest and most established wood board wholesalers: Kayreed Trading and Davidson’s Discount Boards.

Gauteng-based Kayreed Trading was established in 1977 by the late Rubin Katz. The business fast grew into a large-scale distributor of raw wooden boards. Kayreed Trading supplies to the construction and manufacturing industries, as well as shop-fitting, kitchen and furniture markets. Operating primarily from its enormous Lanlaagte warehouse, Kayreed Trading offers distribution services to customers within a 200km radius of Johannesburg.

Davidson’s Discount Boards was started in 1989 by Geoff Davidson in Ottery, Cape Town, and specialised in distributing raw wooden boards and upgraded timber products. The purchase of specialist, state-of-the-art cutting and edging machinery heralded a new era for the company. Davidson’s Discount Boards continues to offer an extensive range of value add services, as well as complimentary products and accessories at all their branches in the Western Cape.

The merger between these two prominent South African companies has resulted in the biggest wooden board wholesaler in the country. The KayDav Group is thus able to offer a comprehensive retail network and distribution infrastructure as well as expert knowledge and equipment.
